Moddies is designed for young players aged 8-10 years who are developing their netball skills and building confidence on court. With modified rules and a supportive, inclusive environment, players can learn the game, develop their skills and enjoy being part of a team - all while having plenty of fun.

It’s a great introduction to competition for players who are new to netball, as well as a stepping stone for those ready to build on the skills they’ve already developed.

Competition Details

Day: Monday afternoons
Dates: Monday 12 Oct – Monday 30 Nov
Time: From 4:00pm

For: Girls & boys aged 8-10 years - players born in 2018, 2017 & 2016
Cost: $100 per player (there may be an additional $64 cost for any players who have not registered with an netball association in 2026. This is for Netball Queensland Insurance)

Teams & Individual Players Welcome

Players can register individually, or you can enter a whole team.

Registering a team? Each player needs to register as an individual. Once registrations are complete, please email info@nambournetball.com.au with:

• Team name

• Player names

• Coach details

Don't have a team? No problem. Individual players are welcome, and we’ll help place players into a team where possible.

Moddies FAQs

What age group is Moddies for?
Moddies is part of the NetSetGO program, and is the 'Go' stage of the program, generally designed for players aged 9–10 years. It provides a pathway for young players to develop their skills through modified netball matches.

Can boys play?
Yes! Boys and girls are welcome to play Moddies.

Do I need to register individually or as a team?

Players must register individually. If you are entering a full team, once all players have registered, email N&DNA at info@nambournetball.com.au with your team name, player names and coach details.

What is NetSetGO?

NetSetGO is Netball Australia’s introductory program for young players. It progresses through three stages Net, Set and Go. Moddies is part of the "Go" stage, where players begin developing more netball-specific skills and putting them into practice through modified matches.

What are “modified rules”?

Moddies uses modified rules to make the game easier for young players who are still learning. Players have a little longer to pass, and they’re allowed minor footwork when they have possession of the ball. These small changes give players more time to make decisions, practice their skills and build confidence while they learn the game.

Are there finals?
Moddies is focused on participation, development and having fun. There are no finals during the Term 4 competition.

Are there coaches?
Teams entering Moddies will need to nominate a coach or helper. If you are registering as an individual, N&DNA will assist with team allocations.

What team will I be in?

Teams will be allocated based on age, playing experience and friendship requests where possible. If you are making up your own team, please register each player individually and email N&DNA once everyone has registered with your team name, player names and coach details.

What if I don’t know anyone?

Don’t worry! Most of our registrations are from individual players. N&DNA will place players into a team with others of a similar age and playing level.

Are the Play On vouchers accepted for this program?

Yes. Play On vouchers are accepted for this program. You can enter details during the registration process. Note that the registration amount is less than $200, so if you use a Play On voucher you will forfeit the remaining balance on your voucher.

Are uniforms required?

Teams can organise their own playing tops, but all players must wear sports shoes and comfortable activewear. Bibs will be supplied.
